Boca de Tomates Beach

Author: javier

Boca de Tomates is located right on the outskirts of Puerto Vallarta, near the Ameca River. While getting there can seem a bit tricky, it’s absolutely worth the drive.

A hotel-free beach, the main attraction is the row of palapa-covered restaurants serving fresh seafood daily. The local specialty: Pescado Zarandeado, a dry-rubbed red snapper cooked and “shaken” over a hot grill.

The high surf and wind makes this beach a favorite for local surfers and the newest craze, wind surf. Oddly enough, the area is also known for its vast wildlife, even housing its own turtle camp. The proximity to the Ameca River brings about crocodile, sea turtle and large bird sightings.
