Café Chapultepec
Author: Robert Nelson
In the heart of bustling Puerto Vallarta lies the tranquil Café Chapultepec, a surprisingly secluded tropical retreat. Upon arrival, busy Vallarta fades like a fog into distant memory, as a gentle sea breeze drifts in from Banderas Bay.
Palm trees line the meandering pathway to the quaint poolside café, bordered by lush gardens. The ambiance is intimate and romantic, the waiters attentive and food excellent. In the back ground a quiet beach and “old town” Puerto Vallarta’s skyline can be seen, a view especially lovely at sunset. After dark, the city lights and nightly fireworks displays near the Malecon round out the experience.
Chapultepec’s dinner menu features pastas, salads and house specialties including deliciously prepared fish, shrimp, filet mignon, chicken and Mexican dishes, followed by such deserts as ice cream, flan and flambeau. An assortment of wine is also available for your dining pleasure.
Daily dinner specials are offered, two of the most popular being Tuesday barbecue rib night and Thursday steak night. Generous portions are served with coleslaw and choice of baked or French fried potatoes.
Earlier in the day, relax while sipping an espresso, cappuccino or latte and check emails with wi-fi. As the day proceeds enjoy a leisurely breakfast or lunch. The rather extensive daytime menu includes most US basics and some Mexican dishes for breakfast. Salads, sandwiches, great hamburgers, Mexican dishes and fish and shrimp are available for lunch.
Whether by car, city bus or taxi; Café Chapultepec is easily accessible from anywhere in Puerto Vallarta. It is located at the Los Tules condominium complex (directly across the street from Plaza Caracol). So many people do not realize it is open to the public. But one merely needs to check-in at the front gate to gain access.
