Puerto Vallarta’s hotel occupancy continues to its annual increase this year with numbers reflecting the period of January to June 2014 its upward what has been a to increase1,439,771 occupied rooms from January to June 2014, 139,328 more that the same period in 2013 when 1,301,449 rooms were occupied.

Tripadvisor’s consumer base of more than 2 million monthly users have  once again voted Puerto Vallarta onto their list of overall best destinations, this year coming in at #2 overall best Mexican destination for the 2014 Traveler’s Choice Award. The Traveler’s Choice Awards are of great significance because each destination must earn the award as a result of maintaining at least a 4-star average score from consumers in both their hotels and restaurants over the course of 12 months.

The stunning beaches of Puerto Vallarta's Southern shores were awarded Blue Flag Certification  by the Foundation for Environmental Education's (FEE) international jury of environmentalists. The Blue Flag works towards sustainable development of beaches and marinas through strict criteria dealing with Water Quality, Environmental Education and Information, Environmental Management, and Safety & Other Services. As it stands now Palmares Beach just south of Puerto Vallarta, is the only beach in Banderas Bay to be Blue Flag certified through July 2015. Secrets Vallarta Bay Puerto Vallarta also received the 2014 Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor; the Certificate of Excellence is awarded to qualifying accommodations listed on TripAdvisor that consistently earn high ratings from TripAdvisor travelers. For the second consecutive year, Secrets Vallarta Bay Puerto Vallarta has also earned the highly-prestigious AAA Four Diamond Award. Other awards received include the Distintivo "S" award for its best practices in the development of tourism projects involving environmental programs, eco-practices and self-sustainability and Distintivo "H" Award by the Mexico Ministry of Tourism for offering high quality cuisine.
