Author: Comunicación Social de Puerto VallartaSource: Comunicación Social de Puerto Vallarta
We will welcome spring in Puerto Vallarta with our spectacular and traditional Carnaval / Mardi Gras Parade. The parade will, for the first time this year, wind its way through Puerto Vallarta’s new Malecon and Zona Romantica and is officially sponsored by the City of Puerto Vallarta.
The Puerto Vallarta Carnaval Parade will be held on Saturday, February 18, from 9 pm to midnight. The parade route begins at the northern end of the new Malecon at Parque Hidalgo, continuing south on Paseo Diaz Ordaz, Morelos and Ignacio L. Vallarta to Basilio Badillo where it turns west and then south on to Olas Altas ending at the far southern end of that street. Transito is providing full traffic direction and support.
Consider this your official invitation! Everyone is welcome to participate. We welcome all types of entries, from marching banners and strolling entertainers to full-sized floats blazing in color and sound.
Entry fees for floats and cars or marching groups with banners is only $200 pesos. Official non-profit and civic organizations and live performing artists (musicians, dancers, jugglers, etc.) do not pay an entry fee. All fees collected from the parade will be used directly for promoting and organizing the parade and ensuring its success.
The purpose of this parade is to entertain both residents and tourists. In the tradition of Mardi Gras parades around the world, it is a celebration of the diversity and sensuality of life. It is a display of the colors of spring and a grand welcome to the return of the sun’s warmth. It is an expression of everything that makes life in Puerto Vallarta exciting.
