Puerto Vallarta achieved great successes in 2023, both domestically and internationally, positioning itself as the leading sun and beach destination in Mexico.

The Excelencias Awards promote and recognize excellence in Latin American tourism, cuisine and culture. During the International Tourism Fair of Madrid (FITUR) 2023, the winners were: Proyecto Nebulosa, for its innovative gastronomic experience; and Canopy River, thanks to its work in favor of the community through sustainable projects.
The prestigious luxury travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler celebrated the 36th edition of the Readers' Choice Awards 2023, where Puerto Vallarta was ranked among the 10 "World's Friendliest Cities"—the only destination in Mexico and Latin America.
Puerto Vallarta was also ranked among the "World's Best Small Cities" for its wide range of tourist offerings through exceptional experiences and advice from the most demanding travelers. Puerto Vallarta consolidated its position in fourth place.
Puerto Vallarta received five awards out of seven nominations at the Travvy Awards, which honor the best in the travel industry in the United States and Canada.
Among the awards received by the "Green Pearl of the Mexican Pacific" were those for Mexico's top tourist destination and Mexico's top cuisine destination. Puerto Vallarta consolidated its leadership in the wedding and romance sector with the Travvy Awards for Best Honeymoon Destination and Best Wedding Destination in Mexico.
As a key player in the promotion of the destination's attractions and showcasing the exceptional experiences that Puerto Vallarta has to offer its visitors, the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board was recognized with the bronze award for Best Tourism Board in Mexico.
Puerto Vallarta was the winner of four awards out of five nominations for these awards that showcase the best of LGBTQ+ tourism in Mexico. The LGBTQ+ Travel Awards Mexico 2023, organized by the National Union of LGBTQ+ Tourism Entrepreneurs (UNET), is a celebration of the best in tourism for LGBTQ+ travelers.
Puerto Vallarta was honored as Beach Destination of the Year for offering its LGBTQ+ visitors an ideal environment for the celebration of diversity, inclusion and pride in an atmosphere of respect and inclusiveness.
Almar Luxury Resort LGBT Beach Front Experience was also recognized as Concept Hotel of the year, Café des Artistes as Restaurant of the year, and Grand Miramar All Luxury Suites & Residences as Ally of the year.
The Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board received the award for Best Marketing Campaign in the "Beach Destination" category at the EVM Awards, presented by PriceTravel Holding, one of Latin America's most important tourism groups.
The travel platform Expedia recognized Puerto Vallarta for its commitment to the development of tourism in Mexico. This has consolidated Puerto Vallarta's position as one of the most sought-after sun and beach destinations in Mexico for international travelers.
As part of the Day of the Dead Festival Puerto Vallarta 2023, the destination reaffirmed its Guinness World Records for the World's Tallest Calavera Catrina (92 ft high.) This surpasses the 75.5 feet recorded in 2022.
Puerto Vallarta is also one of the most competitive small cities in Mexico, thanks to its high level of safety perception, its economic recovery after the pandemic and the increase in the occupancy rate of its hotels.
