Puerto Vallarta’s city government and the Vallarta’s Cultural Institute are glad to invite you to join us at the Damajuana Raicilla Festival, a celebration of our most important distilled, symbol of the cultural and natural landscape of this beautiful region that we are delight to organize for the first time in Puerto Vallarta. This event will become one of the most important gatherings of the year and will promote the region and the communities culturally through the improvement, growth, production and industrialization of the raicilla.

The Damajuana Raicilla Festival will take place the March 18 and 19, and will programmed a series of cultural activities that goes from conversations with the traditional distillery masters from different regions and towns, raicilla and food tastings, movie projections and music concerts, where stands out the presence of the musician, plastic artist and conductor of the program "De Kiosko en Kiosko", Cornelio García whose cultural trajectory in the state of Jalisco is widely known.

Festival Location

The Damajuana Raicilla Festival will take place at the Vallarta’s Institute of Culture’s main square in the heart of one of Vallarta´s historic neighborhood. Located in the east side of the Cuale island, this place has an special meaning to the local community as an historic bond to the city’s foundation, and has become an attraction for the foreign and local visitors, that comes to the Institute because of its cultural offer, the richness of its natural landscape and the social energy and diversity around.

The Damajuana

During the XVI Century, sailors from South France used to call in an humorous way dame-Jeanne to the 10 or 20 liters bottles as comparing them with women with pronounced hips. The racilla landscape has on the Damajuana one of its main and distinguish elements: once in a time the natural transport, today, the historical vehicle with whom we travel to put in value.
