GALA Vallarta: The Business Meeting Redefining Tourism in the Mexican Pacific

GALA Puerto Vallarta & Riviera Nayarit 2026 is now in its 31st year, and it has firmly solidified its place as one of Mexico's most noteworthy tourism events.

This yearly get-together brings together leaders, companies, and key industry players to strengthen partnerships, develop strategies, and shape the future of one of the country's most important destinations: the Mexican Pacific, with Puerto Vallarta at its core.

In this edition, GALA Vallarta not only reaffirms its importance but also offers a glimpse into the direction the tourism industry is heading in an increasingly competitive global context.

GALA 2026: Landmark Achievements

GALA Vallarta 2026 saw the participation of over 750 leaders from the tourism industry. Among them were wholesale partners, specialized agencies, airlines, tour operators, destinations, Pueblos Mágicos, and representatives from the hotel industry in both destinations.

This level of involvement validates Puerto Vallarta's pivotal role on the global tourism map. This is a testament to the industry's confidence in Jalisco's premier beach destination, which has successfully adapted to new trends such as sustainable tourism, accessible luxury, and personalized experiences.

GALA Vallarta 2026 was notable for its success in facilitating productive business meetings between buyers and suppliers in the tourism sector. Over the course of three working days, a record-breaking total of 5,796 business meetings were held, a figure that surpassed previous years' records.

A Key Platform for the Destination

GALA Vallarta 2026 unfolded from March 10 to 12 at the Puerto Vallarta International Convention Center (CICPV), showcasing the destination's reliable operations and prevailing security conditions.

The event saw the participation of 322 registered companies and 558 individuals. Among them were 167 wholesale agencies—a significant increase from the 90 registered in 2025—and 118 hotels, which were responsible for setting rates and commercial agreements for the fall–winter seasons.

In its 31st iteration, GALA Vallarta remains a pivotal forum for contract negotiations, the development of novel tourism products, and the reinforcement of air routes.

The program featured broad representation from the tourism sector, including representatives from various tourism-related businesses, organizations, and associations. The event saw the participation of 73 wholesalers, 60 hosted buyers, and 44 tour and activity companies, along with delegations from 18 Pueblos Mágicos and six destinations. This participation contributed to the strengthening of commercial exchanges and the promotion of various regions across the country.

The event saw more than 5,000 business meetings, which account for between 15 and 20 percent of the annual lodging capacity for many of the participating hotels. These agreements will guide the destination's marketing initiatives in the months ahead.

The destination's global profile is strengthened by the presence of international buyers, which could lead to a significant increase in visitor numbers in the coming years.

A Strategic Destination on the Rise

To speak of Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit is to speak of one of Mexico's most dynamic and well-rounded tourist regions, offering a variety of attractions, activities, and experiences for visitors.

Its growth is not an accident; it's the result of a well-coordinated combination of investment, planning, international promotion, and adaptation to the evolving needs of global travelers.

In recent years, this tourism corridor has evolved beyond the traditional concept of sun and sand, offering visitors a variety of activities and attractions that extend beyond the typical beach resort experience.

Today, it positions itself as a comprehensive destination offering diverse experiences: from luxury tourism and wellness to adventure, cuisine, and local culture.

Air connectivity is one of the main reasons for this growth. Direct flights to a wide range of destinations in the United States, Canada, and other countries are available from Puerto Vallarta international airport, which is one of the country's most significant air travel hubs.

This is further complemented by a continually expanding hotel infrastructure, encompassing all-inclusive resorts, boutique hotels, and high-end developments.

Puerto Vallarta is still one of the most internationally recognized destinations, thanks to its well-established tourism offerings and its ability to attract both traditional tourists and new market segments.

Puerto Vallarta Heads Toward the 2026 World Cup

Puerto Vallarta's announcement as the "Official Beach of the 2026 World Cup" was one of the most popular topics at GALA Vallarta 2026.

This recognition presents a unique opportunity for the destination, as it will allow it to benefit from the surge in tourism that will result from one of the world's major sporting events.

While it won't be hosting any World Cup matches in 2026, Puerto Vallarta's strategic location just a 2.5-hour drive from Guadalajara, along with its extensive air connectivity, makes it an ideal destination for international visitors seeking a blend of relaxation and celebration.

This designation is also a key strategy for attracting international visitors and positioning the Puerto Vallarta brand globally.

Sustainability and Inclusion: The New Way to Do Tourism

Another central theme of GALA Vallarta 2026 was the focus on sustainability and social inclusion, two pillars that are becoming increasingly important for the tourism industry.

The event highlighted the importance of promoting responsible practices that protect the natural environment and benefit local communities. This time, a "Zero PET Use" policy was put in place, aligning with global standards for eco-friendly events.

The CICPV also made room for social impact initiatives through a collaboration with the Puerto Vallarta Altruist Network, which offered tastings of products made by local children with Down syndrome.

GALA Vallarta 2026 also introduced a new initiative: an animal rescue space within the venue. This allowed attendees to learn about pet adoption and welfare projects.

A Sneak Peek into the Future of Tourism in Mexico

GALA Puerto Vallarta & Riviera Nayarit 2026 provided an opportunity to network and assess the current state of tourism in Mexico.

The region is in a prime position to continue growing, as evidenced by its high attendance, a focus on innovation and sustainability, and the context of the 2026 World Cup.

For travelers, investors, and industry professionals, this event confirms one thing clearly: Puerto Vallarta is more than just a beach destination; it's a key player in Mexico's tourism future.
