7 Great Seasonal Events for Spring Break in Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta will host a variety of culinary, cultural, sports and entertainment events during this year's second "long weekend,” which takes place from March 15 to 18.

Additionally, the third Monday of March is a national holiday in Mexico.  It commemorates the birthday of former President and national hero Benito Juarez Garcia, which falls on March 21.  The holiday also coincides with the Northern Hemisphere beginning to spring.

The following is a list of the seven seasonal events that take place in Puerto Vallarta during the second “long weekend” of the year.

It's worth noting that most of these events in Puerto Vallarta are completely free and open to the public, so make a note of them and don't miss out on the opportunity to attend your favorite one!

Puerto Vallarta will host the first tennis tournament in Mexico of the Gay & Lesbian Tennis Alliance (GLTA) World Tour series; a worldwide tour of tennis tournaments that travels through Europe, Asia, Australia, the United States, Canada, Mexico and South America.

Coconutz Puerto Vallarta 2024 will take place from March 14th to 17th.  The tournament will be held at the Parque Parota courts, located in the heart of Puerto Vallarta's north Hotel Zone.

In this first edition, 130 players from Armenia, Australia, Canada, Costa Rica, England, Germany, India, Ireland, Jamaica, Malaysia, Mexico, the Netherlands, Peru, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, the United States, and South Africa will be participating.  Although it is not a professional tennis federation, there are many highly ranked members, so a high level of play is expected.

Playing hours will be Thursday through Saturday from 8:00am to 10:00pm and Sunday from 10:00am for the Grand Final.  The event will be 100% family-oriented, with food and drink provided for those attending.

Admission to all tournament matches is free.

The popular Mercado Emiliano Zapata Market hosted the first edition of Sabor en Competencia Cooking Contest in 2023.  First place in the competition went to Chef Alejandra Aisury Delgado García of Masame Restaurant.

A food and beverage expo from Puerto Vallarta and the region, as well as entertainment with live music, will be held in conjunction with the Sabor en Competencia Cooking Contest.

Sabor en Competencia will be held on Friday, March 15 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm in Parque Hidalgo.  The event is free of charge and open to the public.
