COMMUNITY, RELIEF, GRATITUDE, SUPPORT THE “AFTER EFFECTS” OF HURRICANE PATRICIA

Saturday, the day after hurricane “Patricia”, Puerto Vallarta, having expected the worst, woke up to clear sunny skies and calm, light breezes. Everything was in its place, there was the realization that nothing needed to be cancelled, life was normal, and an extraordinary sense of gratitude, solidarity and support, was in the air, as was reflected on faces of both locals and tourists all around town.

A collective sense of relief and pride is tangible, as the prevention, order and protocols put into place in anticipation of the storm, and the cooperation of all, were most effective, demonstrating once again, Puerto Vallarta is a safe and reliable place for tourists from all over the world.

Having confirmed the normalcy of Puerto Vallarta, attention was then focused on support efforts for the towns needing help on the other side of the Sierra Madre mountains, affected by the storm. Fund raising events and collection spots have been established at various points in the city for gathering food, supplies, clothing and household items.

With all services in full operation, Puerto Vallarta this week has had the opportunity to welcome guests with open arms and warm smiles on sunny days, as the Disney Wonder, the Norwegian Jewel, and the Ruby Princess cruise ships sailed into port, as well as the hundreds of tourists arriving at the airport anticipating a fun-filled vacation.
