FILIPPA GIORDANO NAMED PUERTO VALLARTA’S TOURISM AMBASSADOR

The Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board is proud to announce that the city’s Mayor, Arturo Davalos Peña and Ramon Gonzalez Lomeli, director of Municipal Tourism, named internationally renowned Pop Opera Diva, Filippa Giordano, “Tourism Ambassador” in a ceremony this past weekend.

Giordano was born in Palermo, Italy but is now a citizen of Mexico and resides in Puerto Vallarta. The gold recording artist is a Sanremo Festival winner and the first international performer to be named Tourism Ambassador of the Pacific coast city.

The mayor hopes that Filippa’s international popularity will not only attract new visitors to Puerto Vallarta but will also place the destination in the realm of movie producers, musicians, and conferences while strengthening ties of friendship.

"Puerto Vallarta means so much to me,” said Giordano to reporters attending the ceremony. “I have vacationed here and have enjoyed its marvelous beaches and its beautiful vegetation. It is a town of beautiful mountains, rich folklore and tradition. The friendliness of its people also sets the destination apart, anyone who visits this place wishes they could return as soon as possible.”

Puerto Vallarta is one of Mexico’s leading destinations and its relationships with celebrities, starting from Elizabeth Taylor to current starlets such as Zendaya and Selena Gomez, have continuously placed it on the world stage.

Named the Friendliest City in the World by Conde Nast Traveler (2011) and the Friendliest City in Mexico (2015) by the readers of Travel Leisure Puerto Vallarta is known for its beaches, resorts and its historic center.

“Puerto Vallarta is also a city full of culture and cuisine,” said Davalos Peña. “Traditions are fused here with the latest world trends in a cosmopolitan setting.”

“Filippa Giordano embraces historic traditions, current trends and forges her own future in the pop opera world, which makes her a trendsetter,” said Agustin Alvarez, Director of the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board. “Those are values that align perfectly with the vision we have at the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board and we welcome her as Puerto Vallarta’s Tourism Ambassador.”
