FIRST NEW TUI FLIGHT ARRIVES FROM ENGLAND TO PUERTO VALLARTA

TUI is here to stay, and every effort will be made to ensure it stays that way, according to Enrique Ramos Flores, Jalisco Secretary of Tourism, at the reception of the inaugural flight of this airline from England, which arrived with 270 passengers.

This Thursday, May 1st, the inaugural flight of the TUI Thomson tourism company arrived in Puerto Vallarta from Manchester, England, with 270 passengers on board. They were welcomed by a wide retinue, including Duncan Taylor, Ambassador from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland from the north of Mexico, and a mariachi band.

Thus TUI Thomson began its first season, which will consist of two weekly arrivals from Manchester on Thursdays and from London on Saturdays, using Boeing 787s, with a carrying capacity of 291 passengers.

The inaugural flight arrived at 2:30 p.m., and tourism officers as well as businesspeople organized a reception at one of the newest areas of the terminal, including live mariachi music and welcome cocktails.

Enrique Ramos Flores, Secretary of Tourism from the state, said that in 2013 over 7,000 visitors arrived from England, but that the new flights would increase those numbers closer to 20,000 in its first year of operations.

These new flights from England have the backing of the Vallarta-Nayarit joint promotional campaign, which has the full support of Rodolfo Lopez Negrete, adjunct general director of the CPTM (Tourism Promotional Council of Mexico), who for weeks has been carrying out an intense campaign with Rolando Miravete, Director of the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust and Marc Murphy, from the OCV of Riviera Nayarit. They visited the cities of Manchester and London, training dozens of travel and sales agents in the promotion of the tourism attractions of this region.

The hotels within the program slated to receive the European tourists will be AM Resorts, Buenaventura and Canto del Sol in Puerto Vallarta, and Dreams Villamagna, Royal Decameron, Hard Rock Hotel, Iberostar Playa Mita, and the three Riu Hotels in the Riviera Nayarit.

The British ambassador expressed his satisfaction on the direct flights from England to Puerto Vallarta, “It is historic because, as I understand it, this is the first direct flight from England to the coast of the Mexican Pacific; it is just a beginning, we are looking forward to additional weekly flights.” He said that during the seven months he has been heading up the Embassy in Mexico, he has experienced the friendly nature of Mexicans, and a country with an agreeable climate and culture. “It is completely different from what we see in Manchester or London, but when you go on vacation, the most important thing is how welcome you feel.”

Present at the reception were the Tourism Secretaries from Jalisco and Riviera Nayarit, Enrique Ramos Flores and Raul Rodrigo Lopez, respectively, Puerto Vallarta’s Municipal Mayor, Ramon Guerrero, President of the Hotel Association, Ignacio Cadena, Director of the Puerto Vallarta Trust, Rolando Miravete, Director of the OCV Riviera Nayarit, Marc Murphy, as well as representatives from the afore-mentioned hotels.
