And one of the tastiest parts of Vallarta’s retained heritage is the abundance of fresh and delicious seafood available straight from the waters of Banderas Bay. And the city offers many excellent seafood restaurants, from the simplicity of grilled shrimp available on the beach to haute cuisine eateries.
Ocho Tostadas has been a local’s favorite for over 38 years with traditional seafood dishes like Smoked Marlin Empanadas and Seafood Cocktails. This popular restaurant now has four locations including three in Puerto Vallarta: Marina Vallarta, Plaza Peninsula, and Colonia Lazaro Cardenas.
Tino’s Puerto Vallarta is a one of the most popular seafood restaurants in Puerto Vallarta with a prime second floor location at the start of the Malecon, with patio seating to fully enjoy the view of Banderas Bay. Oysters and lobster dishes are both plentiful and well-executed as is the specialty of the house, Tino’s Special Shrimp, which are prepared in an exquisite béchamel almond sauce with white wine and finely chopped mushrooms, spinach and bacon.
And perhaps the most popular seafood restaurant in Puerto Vallarta with the ex-pat community is Joe Jack’s Fish Shack, located on Basilio Badillo. Offering daily specials on the best mojitos in town and an All You Can Eat Fish and Chips Friday, it’s easy to see why this restaurant was voted Best Seafood Restaurant 2011.
