The popular Arcos islands located at the south of Puerto Vallarta are small granite islands that rise above sea level. Los Arcos, meaning the Archs in Spanish, owe their name to the shape of their rock formations. The biggest of which is 25 metres high, and even boats can pass under it. The smaller archs are the perfect place to go snorkeling and diving, as you can go swimming through them and dive into the many caves and tunnels which have been formed in the reefs over time. To visit this place, you can take a boat tour to the southern beaches, where stopping at“Los Arcos”is a must. You can also rent a “panga”, a small boat which provides you with the necessary material to go snorkelling from the Los Muertos Pier or from Mismaloya.
