Puerto Vallarta is the National Capital of Mariachi this Summer

From June 27th to July 1st, Puerto Vallarta will host the first annual edition of the "Al Calor del Mariachi" summer festival.  The event will bring together outstanding musicians from Mexico and abroad to celebrate the roots of this cultural icon of Jalisco and symbol of Mexican identity.

The festival consists of a five-day event.  Musicians, cultural promoters and the general public will be able to enjoy cuisine, folkloric dances, art, workshops, conferences and shows.

The official venues of the Summer Festival "Al Calor del Mariachi" are the International Convention Center of Puerto Vallarta and the Sheraton Buganvilias Resort & Convention Center.  Parallel events will also be held at other venues throughout the Puerto Vallarta area.

To date, mariachis from Puerto Vallarta and the State of Jalisco, as well as those from Monterrey, Puebla, Estado de México and Colima, have confirmed to participate.  Student mariachis from California and Texas, USA, will also make a special appearance at the festival.

There will be three types of programs at "Al Calor del Mariachi".  The General Program will include conferences, workshops, and shows; the Educational Program will include three consecutive days of workshops designed to professionalize mariachis, master classes, and a series of conferences.

Finally, the Artistic Program will include a public concert on the Malecon of Puerto Vallarta and a concert by Mariachi Femenil Nuevo Tecalitlan at the International Convention Center of Puerto Vallarta, as well as performances by local, national and international mariachis.

Attendees will be able to enjoy a complete exhibition of products and services related to the mariachi world, a culinary show, folkloric dance show, plastic art and fashion show.

In addition, a gala to benefit institutions that promote culture and education, as well as art and music, will be held at the Sheraton Buganvilias Resort & Convention Center.

The festival concludes Saturday, July 1, with a Thanksgiving Mass performed by Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlán at the iconic Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in the heart of the city's historic center.

The perfect setting to highlight the iconic Jalisco and Mexican culture, Puerto Vallarta is a city known worldwide for its charm and natural beauty, attracting thousands of national and international tourists each year.

Thanks to Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlán, in collaboration with Mariachi, Cultura y Tradición, AC and in conjunction with the Academia de Artes y Cultura de Jalisco, the first edition of the Summer Festival "Al Calor del Mariachi" in Puerto Vallarta is possible.
