The Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board partnered with blogger personality @SassyModernMom this morning in a Twitter party targeting family travel bloggers and consumers making the hashtag #VisitPV the number 2 trending topic in Canada from 12:45 PM to 1:35 PM ET and #9 in Vancouver for almost 2 hours. Over 300 contributors participated in the party with 29,974,665 impressions.
The Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board has taken to social media in a series of Twitter parties designed to generate buzz around the destination after the passing of hurricanes Nobert, Odile and Polo in September.
On September 30, 2014 the tourism board hosted an on-site Twitter party from its Malecon under the hashtag #puertovallarta, generating more than 9,000 Tweets in two hours. The event, coordinated by OOH Marketing, the tourism board's social media agency, had almost 34 million impressions with 1,560 international participants.
In addition, on September 16, 2014, the board participated in a family targeted Twitter Party under the hastag #discoverpv for the United States market with Family Travel Forum. The hour-long party generated 25 million impressions with 290 participants from the United States with 2,684 Tweets.
In the upcoming months, the tourism board will be hosting additional Twitter parties targeting gastronomy with Saveur Magazine and romance with BrideClick, among others. Additionally, Puerto Vallarta hosted a bloggers and social media visit from Oct. 1-5.
The Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board, working with LATITUDE, its PR agency in the United States and Canada has used social media to promote itself on many occasions in those markets. In 2012 it became the first Mexican destination to work with TBEX and this year it hosted a 20-person Twitter visit in June.
A year after the Puerto Vallarta edition of the North American Travel Journalists Association (NATJA) conference & marketplace, the largest conference of US/Canadian media to take place in Mexico, the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board is proud to report that the record-breaking conference has resulted in over 200 editorial items with over 4 million USD in Public Relations.
