You will find car rental agencies at the airport and its surrounding area and at tour desks at most of the major hotels and vacation ownership properties. The only requirement needed is a valid driver’s license from your home country and a Visa or MasterCard (some car rental agencies also accept American Express, but not all of them).
You do not need an international driver’s license or special permit to drive in Mexico and there is no minimum age to rent a car, you just must possess a valid license, although some rental agencies charge a higher rate to drivers under 25.
There are 3 types of rental insurance offered, some of which are mandatory and many of which are strongly suggested as your credit card insurance will not be valid in Mexico for almost all accidents and damages to the vehicle:
• Third Party Liability (mandatory): You cannot rent a vehicle in Mexico without thisinsurance and Third Party Liability should be pre-calculated into your daily quoted rate.
• Personal Accident Insurance (not mandatory): Check with your credit card company about what their policies are for personal accident coverage.
• Loss Damage or Collision Damage Waiver: Your credit card may cover this waiver. Check with your provider in advance.
Once you have your rental car ready to go, just grab a map, buckle up and get out to explore beautiful Banderas Bay.
