Puerto Vallarta dresses up to celebrate the Day of the Dead, becoming one of the most fun sun and beach destinations to enjoy this tradition that has been declared by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
For the Day of the Dead festivities, Puerto Vallarta is transformed into a unique scenario. Music, colors and spirituality blend into a magical atmosphere that attracts visitors from all over the world from the end of October to the first week of November.

The first annual edition of Recuérdame Festival in Puerto Vallarta will be held from October 30th to November 3rd, with free activities and events in different locations of the city. The Malecon boardwalk, Downtown Puerto Vallarta and the Romantic Zone will be the main venues for the Day of the Dead's not-to-be-missed artistic and cultural events.
Obviously, the "Tallest Calavera Catrina in the World" installation, which has held the Guinness World Record for two consecutive years, will be a highlight. The monumental Catrina will be back this year standing at over 90 feet tall. This work of art will be on display at the Malecon of Puerto Vallarta for 10 days and will be accompanied by its skeleton mascot to pay tribute to our beloved animals that have left this world.
Recuérdame Festival in Puerto Vallarta includes events such as: live music with the Orquesta Escuela de Puerto Vallarta's Camerata at Los Arcos del Malecón, video mapping at the Los Muertos beach pier, guided tours of cemeteries, tasting of Pan de Muerto at the Main Square and the Altars of the Dead exhibit at the City Hall.
On Saturday, November 2, starting at 5:00pm, there is the Day of the Dead procession that goes through Colonia 5 de Diciembre neighborhood, El Centro and ends at Los Arcos del Malecon.
Dive into the magic and mysticism of one of the most beautiful traditions of Mexico, the Day of the Dead, with Rhythms of the Night by Vallarta Adventures. Isla de Los Muertos Festival is a family event in Puerto Vallarta that includes an ofrendas and catrinas display, food and beverage area. The live music line up includes some of the most popular and beloved local acts, such as Xochiquetzal, Pleasant Uprising, Steven Retchless, Gloria Fiona as Adele, Effie Pasero & Alison Lo, Sargento and more!
Isla de Los Muertos Festival will also feature a very special version of an Altar of the Dead. This is thanks to the generosity of G&G Realty. Anyone with a photo of their loved ones (humans or pets) can participate in this ofrenda from anywhere in the world. During the event, the ofrenda will be set up on the island of Cuale River.
Local NGOs Vallarta Garden Club and Vallarta Cares will benefit from the proceeds of the Isla de Los Muertos Festival.
