The River Cuale Island is located right in the middle of the old centre (Zona Romantica). The island is divided in two areas, one of them is calmer and is where the Cultural Centre Cuale can be found. Here one can enjoy a peaceful atmosphere where people walk, do exercise, or discover the beautiful stairs that link the island with the famous Gringo Gulch, a picturesque residential area. From these stairs there is a spectacular view of the Puerto Vallarta mountains.
The other side of the island is joined onto the extension of the new Malecón (heading towards the Los Muertos Pier). There you will find a large variety of artisan shops, ideal for anyone who is souvenir shopping in Puerto Vallarta. Both sides of the island have a traditional suspension bridge which will make you relive the curiosity and innocence that we all have in our inner child when you cross it.
El Malecon is located in the historical centre of Puerto Vallarta and it is a promenade which is 870 metres long. It starts at the traditional Hotel Rosita and it goes on until the “Zona Romántica”, going through “Los Arcos”. Read more
