Jalisco is making its mark on the global culinary scene. The MICHELIN Guide has recognized restaurants in Guadalajara, Puerto Vallarta, and Costalegre.

Jalisco's inclusion in the 2026 MICHELIN Guide Mexico is a game-changing event for the state's culinary scene. It solidifies Jalisco's position as a crucial element in the state's branding strategy, driving economic growth and raising international awareness. This is particularly significant as 2027 has been declared the Year of Culinary Tourism.
Guadalajara hosted the MICHELIN Guide awards ceremony for the first time ever this year, making it one of the most significant events in the global culinary industry.

Xokol and Alcalde, two fine dining restaurants located in Guadalajara, Jalisco, are among the new entries that received the distinctive honor of a MICHELIN Star.
The recognition of high-quality cuisine that is worth discovering is the purpose of this category. In this case, both establishments represent distinct expressions of contemporary Jalisco cuisine. These expressions range from haute cuisine with a regional identity to concepts deeply rooted in corn, tradition, and artisanal craftsmanship.

Establishments that offer sustainable cuisine and honor local producers while preserving the land's rich flavors are recognized through this distinction. Xokol is a restaurant that is dedicated to bringing back traditional methods of cooking, and its menu is centered around the use of native corn.

Restaurants that offer excellent value for money are recognized by the Bib Gourmand category.

In this category, the guide recognizes restaurants that did not receive a MICHELIN Star or a Bib Gourmand but still serve well-executed dishes made with fresh ingredients and includes them on its list of recommendations.
In this edition, Jalisco celebrates its recognition in the 2026 MICHELIN Guide and confirms its place as one of Mexico's most exciting culinary destinations. Local cuisine has never been more prominent, boasting a distinct identity and talent, and a vibrant scene that continues to grow.

This year, the MICHELIN Guide expanded to include three more Mexican destinations: Jalisco, Puebla, and Yucatán. These additions bring the total number of Mexican destinations featured in the guide to 10, along with Mexico City, Oaxaca, Baja California, Baja California Sur, Quintana Roo, and Nuevo León.
