NY TIMES / SCRUFF SURVEY NAMES PUERTO VALLARTA "OF THE BEATEN PATH" GAY TRAVEL DESTINATION
Puerto Vallarta, which in January of this year, became the newest city to say I do to same-sex weddings legally, was named the #1 “off the beaten path” or “surprisingly gay friendly” travel destination in the world in a survey pertaining to gay summer travel and conducted in conjunction with the New York Times, SCRUFF, one of the leading gay dating apps in the world (with 10 million members worldwide). The ranking also indicates positivity pertaining to safety in the destination.
Released on August, 18, the survey received 1,333 responses from guys all over the world and found that gay guys travel more often than the general population. And when they do travel, they spend more, often travel alone, and to different places. Over 120,000 trips in July alone were registered as part of the survey, which is roughly 40% more trips than the average trip activity during the winter and spring months.
