PUERTO VALLARTA'S HUMPBACK WHALE WATCHING AT THE END OF THE YEAR.

Puerto Vallarta is due to its geographical location a tourist destinationthat offers a wide range of activities and the humpback whale watching is one of the most popular tours for all our visitors coming at the end of the year.

The whale season in Vallarta is a unique experience that should not be missed when in our city. It is one of the most wonderful natural attractions and a beautiful natural experience.Vallarta is one of the few destinations where you can watch humpbacks in their natural environment.

These magnificent animals can be observed along the Banderas Bay from mid-December to April. The first whales arrive to our warm waters to mate and reproduce in late November and in April they begin their return back home.

These large mammals are migratory, traveling every year an average of 7,400 km from the North Pole to get to the Equatorial Pacific Ocean.

As soon as you spot a humpback it will be very difficult to ignore it, as it is a magnificent sea giant jumping usually every 40 seconds for several minutes. Experts explain these jumps as a way to show strength.

If you visit Puerto Vallarta during this time, you will be able to experience one of the most beautiful spectacles that nature presents us. Marietta Islands, around 18 km offshore, is the sanctuary of the humpback whales, right in the area between El Morro and La Corbeteña.

Oceanographers say there used to be around 15,000 humpback whales in the world and now only around 5,000 and about 1,000 in the Pacific. Along our bay, up to 300 have been observed during a season.
