Puerto Vallarta will host Mexico's highest film honor, the Ariel Awards, for the first time in history.
The 67th Ariel Awards gala, organized by the Mexican Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMACC), will take place on Saturday, September 20. It will be held at the International Convention Center in Puerto Vallarta.
The Ariel Awards in Puerto Vallarta will honor actress, director, and producer Patricia Reyes Spíndola at the ceremony. She has won four Ariel Awards and has been nominated for three more. Mexican actress Jaqueline Andere will also be recognized. She has been involved in two significant periods of the industry: the final years of the Golden Age of Cinema and the early years of New Mexican Cinema.
The third Golden Ariel of the edition to be held in Puerto Vallarta will be awarded to the Sindicato de Trabajadores de la Producción Cinematográfica (STPC). The union was established in 1945, driven by the vision of prominent figures such as Mario Moreno "Cantinflas," Jorge Negrete, cinematographer Gabriel Figueroa, and filmmaker Alejandro Galindo.
More than 800 guests are expected to be in attendance at the Ariel Awards in Puerto Vallarta, including filmmakers, nominees, specialized press, influencers, and key figures of the film industry in Mexico.
