Since 2013, the Blue Flag award has been given to those beaches and marinas that have achieved Excellency in 4 main items: environmental education, water quality, management and environmental management, as well as quality in security and services.
We’re proud to say that, as of today, Puerto Vallarta has the highest number of Blue Flag certified beaches nationwide, 8 in total, offering an extra attraction to all those families and tourists willing to visit our beautiful destination.
Through this award, the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), a non-governmental environmental organization based in Denmark, whose programs are operated by Pronatura in Mexico, guarantees that the awarded sites comply with 33 strict criteria, based on the 4 environmental and service aspects mentioned previously.
Puerto Vallarta’s Blue Flag certified beaches are: Palmares, Camarones, Playa de Oro, Amapas, Conchas Chinas I, Conchas Chinas II, Garza Blanca and Sheraton. They have achieved this certification thanks to the hard work between local population, government, and tourists, who contribute to the constant re-certification by respecting the environment.
Some of these beaches have wheelchair ramps, showers, bathrooms, restaurants, and information desk. Most of them have a moderate swell, thus making them ideal for the whole family, while its clear blue waters delight all visitors.
Help us preserve our environment, and come with your family to enjoy what Puerto Vallarta and its beautiful beaches have for you!
