Vallarta Pride 2023: All You Need to Know

Puerto Vallarta has become one of the top LGBTQ+ travel destinations in Mexico.  Known for its vibrant nightlife, stunning beaches, and welcoming atmosphere, Puerto Vallarta has become a haven for the LGBTQ+ community.

Vallarta Pride is an annual event dedicated to honoring the LGBTQ+ community and its allies in Puerto Vallarta, and is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.  It is a week-long celebration that this year will take place May 17-28, 2023.  It features a variety of events including the ever popular Block Party, art exhibitions, movie screenings, lectures (in Spanish) and a recreational run.

One of the highlights of Vallarta Pride is the parade.  Thousands of people take to the streets to show their support for the LGBTQ+ community.  The parade is a joyful and inclusive event that celebrates diversity and inclusivity with colorful floats, music and dancing.

With a wide variety of gay bars, clubs and restaurants, Puerto Vallarta is home to a thriving LGBTQ+ community.  The city's Zona Romantica neighborhood is particularly popular with LGBTQ+ travelers and is home to many of the city's gay bars and nightclubs

March on the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia

The International Day Against Homophobia, which calls for an end to discrimination and homophobia against the LGBTQ+ community, will be commemorated with a march on May 17.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 17 - 8:00PM

Miss Vallarta Pride

The first beauty contest that is open for all genders, where the contestants can show off their looks, but also their voice, their ideas, and the fight for the rights of the Puerto Vallarta LGBTQ+ people.

THURSDAY, MAY 18 - 5:00PM

Volleyball Quadrangular

An exciting game, followed by a delicious cocktail or dinner with a DJ, on the beach at sunset at Daiquiri Dick's in Olas Altas.

FRIDAY, MAY 19 - 7:00PM

Queer / Cuir

A unique contemporary art exhibition at OPC art gallery for diversity and art featuring the works of 12 Mexican and international artists.

SATURDAY, MAY 20 - 6:30PM

Benito Santos Fashion Show/ MOSMA MODA/ NATIVXS

A unique tribute to fashion and diversity, with a ground-level runway in Playa Los Muertos featuring Benito Santos, MOSMA MODA and Nativxs.

SUNDAY, MAY 21 - 7:30AM

6K United by the Colors of Diversity 

The first recreational run of the Vallarta Pride bringing people together for inclusiveness, compassion and sports.

 

MONDAY, MAY 22 - 7:00PM

Call of Nature Ball 2023

At the Call of Nature Ball 2023, explore your own nature on the runway and show who takes home the Grand Prize.

Movie Night at the Beach: “Little Girl”

Synopsis: 7-year-old Sasha has always known that she is a girl.  Sasha’s family has recently accepted her gender identity, embracing their daughter for who she truly is while working to confront outdated norms and find affirmation in a small community of rural France.  In French with subtitles in English.

TUESDAY, MAY 23 - 5:00PM-10:00PM

Gender and Sexual Diversity Lectures 

Spanish-language lecture series on gender and sexual diversity, hosted by OPC Art Gallery.  Participants will include leaders in the field, activists, and scholars.

THURSDAY, MAY 25 - 4:00PM

Pride Parade 2023 

Inspired by the idea of what Mexico and especially Puerto Vallarta has to offer— sheltered by the Sierra Madre with green tones that contrast with the blue of the sea, its biodiversity, its wildlife and vegetation that inspire us—the theme of the Parade for this year 2023 is Nature.

“El Edén” Block Party 

The Block Party will become an Eden in the 10th annual edition of Vallarta Pride.

FRIDAY, MAY 26 - 6:00PM-9:00PM

Gender and Sexual Diversity Lectures 

Spanish-language lecture series on gender and sexual diversity, hosted by OPC Art Gallery.  Participants will include leaders in the field, activists, and scholars.

FRIDAY, MAY 26 - 8:00PM-9:30PM

México de Colores Folk Ballet 

A renowned all-male, stereotype-breaking dance troupe inspired by Mexican folklore.  Their show is a mixture of cabaret, pantomime, theater, satire and comedy.
