"Swan Lake", one of the most performed classical ballet in the world, will be presented in Puerto Vallarta by the Russian State Ballet Mari El on Sunday, May 5th: 6:00 pm and 8:30 pm at Teatro Vallarta.
"Swan Lake" tells the love story between Siegfried and Odette, the Swan Queen. The Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, where it premiered in 1877 with choreography by Julius Reisinger, commissioned the ballet from composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
Considered one of the best companies of the new generation in Russia, the Mari El Russian State Ballet is composed of dancers of the highest caliber. They are graduates of the most prestigious schools and faculties of choreography in Russia.
Its repertoire includes Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker and Swan Lake, Minkus' Don Quixote and Bayadere, Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet and Cinderella. Its Artistic Director, Konstantin Ivanov, former Bolshoi Ballet soloist, was awarded the distinction of Artist of National Merit in Russia.
