Oficina de Proyectos Culturales (OPC) is celebrating its tenth anniversary this Thursday, May 23, from 6:30 to 8:30pm, with two simultaneous exhibitions: "First There Was the Raicilla. Art and Culture of the Agave and its Distillates", and "Ana Topoleanu. From the Other Coast: The World of Raicilla."
These two projects combine contemporary art, traditions related to the Agave and its liquors, and a critical reflection on the cultural phenomena linked to their production.
"First There Was the Raicilla" explores the relationship of Agave, Raicilla and other distillates to Puerto Vallarta's area, art and culture. It offers a contemporary vision of the Agave and the historical and social phenomena through the work of more than 20 national and international artists. The curator of the exhibition is the Mexican artist Rubén Ortiz Torres.
"From the Other Coast" is a documentary photographic project by Ana Topoleanu with texts written by Arturo Dávila. From the process and the tools used, to the families that have dedicated themselves to this work for generations, this exhibition tells the story of the Raicilla tradition on the coast of Cabo Corrientes, Jalisco.
Music by DJ Missound for the opening cocktail. Admission is free.
