6 reasons to visit the Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe

Because of its architecture designs and history, parishes and churches are among the main attractions of tourist destinations all around the world.

Right in front of Puerto Vallarta’sMain Square and City Hall the Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe is located.

Here is a list of the reasons why you should visit it:

1. Its imposing structure raises over the city, making it one of Puerto Vallarta’s symbols and point of reference.
   
   
2. It represents faith and devotion. It is one of the main spiritual places for the faithful believers.
3. Because of the many followers of the Patron Saint, during 12 continuous days, from December 1st till 12th, the festivities honoring the Virgin of Guadalupe take place. Several pilgrimages take places with decorated floats, festivities, chanting and dances all over the streets.
   
   
4. Surrounding the Parish you will find snacks, traditional candies, ice creams, souvenirs and much more.
5. Its architecture is neoclassical and baroque. At the top of its cusp it has an imposing crown instead of a bell tower, which you can look at from many points and lookouts at the city.

It has a brick facade. Its central tower with four bodies was built in during the late 50's and in 1965, with a concrete crown supported by eight angels made out of the same material.

6. Its interior design is composed by religious images painted in wood, a marble altar and carved wood confessionals. There’s no doubt you’ll find art wherever you look around!

Inside the Parish, you will appreciate an image of the Virgin of Guadalupe painted by the artist Ignacio Ramirez.
