How safe is it to travel to Puerto Vallarta?

Puerto Vallarta is one of the main beach destinations in Mexico, receiving millions of travelers every year from the most important cities in Mexico, as well as visitors from all around the world, mainly from the US and Canada.

Puerto Vallarta Safe

And why do visitors (and locals) love Puerto Vallarta so much? Heavenly beaches, majestic mountains, beautiful rivers, and lush tropical jungle are part of the natural charm found in the destination. Not to mention all the activities you can enjoy no matter the type of trip you plan: wellness, adventure, romance, family, friends. It is a cosmopolitan city with trendy bars, cafes, and boutiques, and the second gastronomic capital in Mexico, filled with delicious options even for the most demanding palates. And to top it off, it is known as The Friendliest City in the World, where warm hospitality and friendly people will welcome you and make sure you have a great time.

Puerto Vallarta Safe

Nowadays when it comes to travelling, we want to make sure the destination we’ve chosen is safe. Since June 2020, Puerto Vallarta reopened its doors to all visitors, as it was internationally recognized by the biosecurity and health measures implemented everywhere in the destination. The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) gave Puerto Vallarta the Safe Travel Stamp, a recognition you can find in tourist destinations that are following strict health protocols as established by local and international authorities.

The great variety of facilities and attractions in Puerto Vallarta are constantly improving in all areas, so when visitors from all around the world come, they can be sure the highest quality standards and health care protocols are met, in order to offer every visitor a safe and pleasant stay upon their arrival and until their return home. Nowadays, there are plenty of testing sites throughout the destination, on the airport, hotels, and areas of easy access. The state of Jalisco also recently announced that passengers arriving by cruise ships will be required to present proof of vaccination before being allowed to disembark.

The local and state governments have been taking prompt decisions and actions to handle the current world health situation responsibly. Each and every hotel is following strict health and sanitation protocols, established and monitored by local authorities, as well as their own corporate or business protocols. Health, disinfection, and prevention measures are still being strictly followed at the International Airport of Puerto Vallarta, the maritime terminal, hotels, restaurants, beaches, shopping centers, spas, gyms and fitness centers, the Malecon, tour operators, natural attractions, public transport, supermarkets, and government offices.

We can happily say that visitors and citizens are following the guidelines emitted by health authorities, and take care of themselves and each other. In Puerto Vallarta economy runs around tourism so the people dedicated to this sector try their best to follow the best health and sanitation practices, such as washing hands constantly, using sanitizing gel, wearing masks, doing exercise and keeping a healthy diet. So, rest assured, your safety and wellbeing is our number one priority.

Thanks to all this, people from all around the globe have been coming and going to Puerto Vallarta recently, and have felt safe when enjoying our destination. Not only that, Puerto Vallarta is chosen by many people from abroad, who are currently doing home office, as a workation venue. With all these changes in the way we work and travel, many can now afford to do both at the same time. They all feel safe and confident to have their new home office in paradise.

Puerto Vallarta is safe to travel

For the last 10 years, our destination has been one of the safest cities in the country, not only to visit, but to live. It is one of the top destinations for retirement, with many citizens from abroad, especially the US and Canada happily choosing it as their new home. It has been recognized by AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) as one of the best places to retire.

We have one of the largest LGBTQ+ community not only in Mexico but in the world thanks to it being an inclusive, friendly and cosmopolitan destination.

Puerto Vallarta offers its visitors high security measures. Aside from regular patrols, there are tourist patrols.
